4 Jun 09
TOTAL KENYA TURNOVER DECLINES BY 25% IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2009.The firm has attributed this drop to the sharp decline in International Crude oil from August 2008 as well as huge drop in pump prices in the local market as a result of government pressure on Oil marketers. Operating Profit also declined by kshs.406 million due to reduced margins as increased cost of distribution, stock effect and lower selling prices.
On 1st June 2009, Total announced that it has finalized the acquisition of Chevron (Caltex) company in Kenya. This will see Chevron change its name to Total Marketing Kenya Limited and later merge with Total Kenya to form one entity.
